Privacy policy
Last updated 22 October 2026. Covers linguacalls.com and the LinguaCalls Chrome extension.
The short version
- Your voice is never recorded. Audio is streamed for live translation and not saved.
- The text of the conversation is saved: each sentence and its translation, so you can find it later in your call history.
- We don’t sell your data or use it for advertising, and we use no advertising or analytics trackers.
- Calls are encrypted in transit, but not end-to-end encrypted: to translate, our servers and the services below have to process what’s said.
What we collect
- Your account. Name, email address, profile photo (with Google sign-in), how you signed in, your default language and voice, and whether your account is approved.
- Your calls. Who took part (name and language), when they joined and left, and the transcript: the text of each sentence spoken and its translation. For Google Meet calls translated with the extension, also the Meet meeting code.
- Audio. Your microphone, and with the extension the sound of the Meet tab you turn it on for. It is processed live to translate it, and we don’t record or store it.
- Sign-in cookies that keep you logged in. We use no advertising or analytics cookies or trackers.
- Server logs. Like any website, our hosting and database providers keep standard logs (such as IP address, browser, pages and times of requests, and errors) to run and secure the service. We don’t write what you say into these logs.
Our pages also load two images from other companies: the ElevenLabs logo at the bottom of the page, from ElevenLabs, and, if you signed in with Google, your profile photo, from Google. Loading them shows those companies your IP address.
How we use it
- To translate your calls and play the translation to the other people in them.
- To show you and the other participants the call in Call history.
- To run your account, including approving new accounts during our preview.
- To keep the service working and secure, and to answer you when you contact us.
LinguaCalls doesn’t sell your data, use it for advertising, or use your conversations to train AI models. Our providers handle what they receive under their own terms, explained in the next section.
Services that process your data
LinguaCalls is built on these providers. Each receives only what it needs for its part of the job, and handles it under its own privacy terms: some keep data for a limited time (for example to prevent abuse), and some may use it to improve their own services. Their policies are linked below.
| Service | What it does | What it receives |
|---|---|---|
| Deepgram | Turns speech into text. | Your audio, while you speak. |
| DeepL | Translates each sentence, for most languages. | The text of what was said. |
| OpenAI | Translates the languages DeepL doesn’t cover, and helps judge when a sentence is finished. | The text of what was said. |
| ElevenLabs | Speaks the translation in a natural voice. | The translated text. |
| Supabase | Database, sign-in, sign-up and password emails, and the live connection for calls. | Your account details and call transcripts (stored here). |
| Amazon Web Services | Hosts the website and our sentence-analysis service. | The text of what was said (to judge when a sentence is complete) and standard server logs. |
| Sign-in, only if you choose “Continue with Google”. | Nothing from us. Google shares your name, email and profile photo with us when you sign in. |
The Chrome extension
- It only starts when you click it in a Google Meet tab. It then captures that tab’s sound and your microphone, and only while it is translating.
- It pauses by itself while you’re muted in Meet or not in the call stops when you press Stop or leave.
- It reads the Meet page only to tell whether you’re in the call and whether you’re muted. It doesn’t read your Meet chat, video or any other tab.
- Your extension settings are stored in your own browser. It talks only to linguacalls.com and the services listed above.
- The use of information received by the extension adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.
Who can see your transcripts
You and the other signed-in people in the same call. “Delete for me” in Call history hides a call from your history only; the others keep their copy of a conversation they were also part of. Our team accesses data only when needed to run the service or to handle a request from you.
How long we keep it, and deleting it
We keep your account and call transcripts for as long as your account exists. To get a copy of your data, correct it, or have your account and transcripts deleted, email hello@linguacalls.com from your account’s email address. We reply within 30 days.
Security
Everything between your browser, our servers and our providers travels over encrypted connections (HTTPS and secure WebSockets), and stored data is protected by access controls. LinguaCalls is not end-to-end encrypted, because translating a call requires processing what’s said.
Children
LinguaCalls isn’t meant for children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect their data.
Changes and contact
If we change how we handle your data, we’ll update this page and the date at the top. Questions? Email hello@linguacalls.com.
